Maria specializes in condominium law, development and administration. Maria supports over 650 of the firm’s residential and commercial condominium clients throughout Ontario. Maria has also obtained her Associate of Canadian Condominium Institute (ACCI) designation in law, which recognizes that she has achieved a high level of knowledge and skill of condominium law. Maria is the Chair of the Education Committee and a member of the Hamilton Law Association Real Estate Subcommittee. Maria’s practice includes advising boards of directors, property managers and developers on all areas of condominium law.

 

Jason Truman, B.A.Sc., P.Eng.

Jason is a creative, hard-working engineer with an entrepreneurial spirit. He started consulting independently in 2004 and founded Edison in 2008. Jason is a family descendent of the famous inventor and entrepreneur Thomas Edison, for whom the firm is named after. Jason believes that hard work, stick-to-itiveness, and common sense, are the hallmark characteristics of a trusted engineer and has made these characteristics the foundation of Edison’s approach.

Jason takes pride in helping educate, engage and empower his clients in their building repair projects. Leveraging over 25 years of construction and engineering experience he designs and presents common sense solutions that are customized to his client’s objectives. Jason is known for developing long term relationships built on trust and reliability. He is rigorously educated, experienced, and committed to a Code of Ethics that puts client’s first. Jason supports the Edison Team to provide clients with the insight and knowledge they need to implement informed strategies for their buildings.

Outside of work Jason spends time with his family. He plays hockey and golf, maintains a small portfolio of income properties, is an avid reader, and loves to learn through travel.

 

Michelle Joy, RCM, BA

Michelle is Executive Director of Condominium Management in the Hamilton office supervising and training staff. She has been working in the condominium industry since 2013 and achieved the designation of Registered Condominium Manager (RCM) with the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario (ACMO) in 2017. Michelle is actively involved in the condominium industry and has participated as a speaker at CCI events, volunteered on CCI committees and written articles for Wilson Blanchard’s Condo Connection.

 

Ryan Griffiths

Ryan Griffiths is the Director, Condominium Finance, at CWB Maxium Financial, a division of Canadian Western Bank. Ryan works closely with condo boards and their communities to develop and implement the right financial solution for their needs and specializes in arranging innovative financing for major condominium repair and maintenance projects. As a financial expert with over 20 years of experience, he enhances the knowledge of his clients by providing the information and tools they need to make informed financial decisions.
 
Ryan is an active member of the condominium community and currently serves as a board member for the Canadian Condominium Institute (“CCI”) Huronia Chapter, and on various committees for the Toronto, Golden Horseshoe and Grand River Chapters of CCI. Ryan routinely develops materials on financials considerations for condominium corporations, and conducts speaking engagements on condominium finance topics at conferences and industry events across Canada.

 

Alicia Gatto, CPA, CA, LPA

Alicia Gatto is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Senior Manager at Gatto Professional Corporation located in Ancaster, Ontario specializing in the condominium industry. The firm presently represents over 300 Condominium Corporations in the Golden Horseshoe and the Greater Toronto areas. Alicia graduated from The DeGroote School of Business in 2012 and went on to gain her audit and assurance experience working at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Alicia has experience with both public and private companies in which she developed her understanding of adhering to financial and assurance reporting standards.

 

Patricia Elia, B. Comm. LL.B., A.T. Coach

The Canadian Condominium Institute is a non for profit organization that has been dedicated to condominium director education for more that 35 years. Patricia Elia is a senior lawyer with Elia Associates and has practiced condominium law and corporate law for over 25 years. Patricia has been a member of CCI Toronto for over ten years and she has been a unit owner and Condominium Director for the last 19 years in both a multistorey and townhouse condominiums in Toronto. As an active industry participant, she knows that the sharing of knowledge has the potential to empower everyone. Patricia has volunteered with CCI in a variety of roles, including being the Co-Chair of CCI’s National Council, Vice Chair of the National Government Relations Committee and currently sitting as a member of CCI National Executive. Patricia is pleased to have been a recipient of the CCI National Volunteer Award and to have received CCI National’s LCCI designation as a leader of the Canadian Condominium Institute. Patricia is passionate about the condominium industry because of the important role condominiums play in the lives of real people and is pleased to work with CCI in its role as an advocate and educator in the condominium industry.
