This session will delve into the proactive approaches that can be employed in condominium communities to manage and resolve conflicts. Our panel of experts will provide best practices for dealing with conflict and will cover tactical communication approaches, and power principles in communication geared towards gaining voluntary compliance. Attendees will learn about threat cues and how to practice situational awareness to increase personal and community safety. The panel will also provide in-depth insights on the various paths to dispute resolution such as the Condominium Authority Tribunal, mediation / arbitration, and the courts.

In addition to the panel presentation, this important event will feature a networking hour, buffet lunch and a question period for our panelists, followed by the opportunity to view the Warplane Museum at leisure.

Ryan Griffiths, Condominium Lending Group 

Managing Director

Ryan is the Managing Director at Condominium Lending Group. He works closely with condo boards and their communities to develop and implement the right financial solution for their needs and specializes in arranging innovative financing for major condominium repair projects. As a financial expert with over 20 years of experience, he enhances the knowledge of his clients by providing the information and tools they need to make informed financial decisions.

Marc Bhalla, Condominium Authority of Ontario

Vice President, Policy, Programs & Dispute Resolution

Marc has helped Ontario’s condominium communities since 2002. He established a mediation/arbitration practice and was an original member of the Condominium Authority Tribunal. Marc has a Master of Laws in Dispute Resolution from Osgoode Hall Law School and an Executive Certificate in Conflict Management from the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law. He completed our advanced condo course back in 2006!
Marc received a STAR Award from the ADR Institute of Ontario (2020) and Distinguished Service Award from the Canadian Condominium Institute (2019).

 

Mike Fernandes, Regal Security Inc. 

Vice President, Operations 

Mike has over 30 years of experience in the security industry with a record of successful partnerships in the condominium market. He is presently responsible for the operations and client service across all of Canada for Regal Security.  Mike is a graduate of Law and Security Administration from Sheridan College, and completed the Mini MBA program at York University. He is passionate and committed to service, and ensuring the safety and security of the communities in which his team services, and advancing the industry as a whole. 

 

Shawn Machado, Maple Ridge Community Management

Community Director 

Shawn is a seasoned Property Manager at Maple Ridge Community Management with over a decade of experience in the condominium and service industry. A Registered Condominium Manager (RCM) since 2012, Shawn holds a General Licence from CMRAO and is a member of the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario (ACMO). He also holds certifications in Lean Six Sigma (White Belt) and Leadership Evolution and Development (L.E.A.D). With a background in Business Administration from Sheridan College, Shawn brings extensive expertise in building maintenance, customer service, and effective business management to his role.
