Keynote - Crisis Outreach
When an owner or occupant of a condo unit is experiencing a mental health crisis, it can be difficult for condo Board members or condo managers to know what to do: To what extent can you help? Who should you call? What do you do if there isn’t a family member that you can contact?
Many municipalities have programs that provide individuals experiencing a mental health crisis – and the people surrounding them – with immediate outreach and support, such as the Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COAST). COAST Halton is a partnership between Canadian Mental Health Association, Halton Region Branch and Halton Regional Police Services, and is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health.
Heather Neal, the Crisis Services Manager of CMHA Halton, will be speaking to conference attendees about the COAST program, including how the program works and who can contact COAST. Heather will be accompanied by a police officer from COAST who will provide the perspective from someone who is dealing with these issues on a face-to-face basis.
Join us for this excellent and informative keynote session, to learn more about how to help those living and working on condo communities when they experience a mental health crisis.
