RESIDENTIAL HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS: EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

This unique session will focus on the launch of the Halton Region preparedness tips for Condo Boards and residential property managers.
One of the lessons learned that came out of the 2013 ice storm was that residents in high rise buildings, were not as prepared as they could have been when it came time. The ice storm had power that was down for upwards of 2 weeks in some areas and those in high rise buildings were not ready to be self-sufficient for those first few days. Understanding that water was going to be out, they would have to take the stairs instead of elevators, was something that some residents had not had to deal with in the past. This unique session will review the action outcomes and enhancements to strengthen the community.

Heather Marr
