The Life of a Condo, ​from Infant to Toddler ​- The first 2 years after condo registration

A lot happens within a short period time and subject to very strict requirements in the first 2 years after a condominium corporation is created – the turnover meeting, the review of contracts entered into by the developer on behalf of the condominium corporation, CAO director training, the completion of performance audits and reserve fund studies – just to name a few. This seminar is essential for anyone involved with a newly created condominium corporation, including directors elected by owners at the turnover meeting that work together with a property manager to fulfill the Corporation’s objects and duties pursuant to the Condominium Act, 1998 and the condominium corporation’s governing documents. Join us to learn about the condominium corporation’s rights and obligations, and also learn some practical tips and best practices.

Attendees are eligible for two (2) CMRAO Continuing Professional Education credits for attending this program.  When submitting your CMRAO credits through your user account on the CMRAO website, you will require the receipt for your registration for this program as your proof of completion.

Maria specializes in condominium law, development and administration. Maria supports over 650 of the firm’s residential and commercial condominium clients throughout Ontario. Maria has also obtained her Associate of Canadian Condominium Institute (ACCI) designation in law, which recognizes that she has achieved a high level of knowledge and skill of condominium law. Maria is the President of the Canadian Condominium Institute – Golden Horseshoe Chapter and the Chair of the Education Committee and a member of the Hamilton Law Association Real Estate Subcommittee. Maria’s practice includes advising boards of directors, property managers and developers on all areas of condominium law.

Sally has been managing condominiums for over 20 years, earning her RCM designation in 2007 and obtaining the Ontario General Licence in 2018. Sally has experience in managing a variety of condominium types – highrise, lowrise, townhouse and commercial standard condos as well as common element, vacant land and phased. As a past member of the Board of Directors for the Golden Horseshoe chapter of CCI and a member of the chapter and Ontario Education Committees, Sally has also presented at numerous conferences and webinars, and enjoys writing for condominium magazine publications. In her current role as senior property manager with Freure Property Management, Sally divides her time between managing condominiums, commercial properties and residential rental sites.

Jason Truman is the founder and President of Edison Engineers Inc. He is a Professional Engineer with over 20 years of engineering and construction experience. Jason has worked extensively with condominium clients since 1998 and enjoys educating, engaging, and empowering Boards and Property Managers. He frequently speaks on Reserve Fund Studies and Building Restoration Projects, providing practical and pragmatic advice on managing large capital repair projects and financial planning.
